Hey John,
I’m writing to ask for your assistance one more time — with an opportunity to be a part of turning Texas blue this November.
MJ Hegar is a working mom and combat veteran — and she’s running for U.S. Senate against Sen. John Cornyn, who is one of the most vulnerable Republicans in the Senate. MJ is passionate about ending the corrupting influence of big money and special interests in our political system, and she’s not taking a dime of corporate PAC money.
MJ spent her career serving our country and served three tours as a combat search-and-rescue pilot. After that, she worked with the ACLU to take on the Pentagon and successfully opened up hundreds of thousands of jobs for women in the military.
Sen. Cornyn, on the other hand, has spent nearly 20 years in Washington serving Mitch McConnell and powerful special interests — putting them ahead of us in Texas. Now he has more than $12 million in a war chest thanks to help from Big Pharma, the gun lobby, and the private prison industry.
Sen. Cornyn isn’t going to start putting Texans first anytime soon — and that's why MJ got into the race. Her campaign is approaching their first end-of-quarter FEC deadline of 2020, and she needs us to join her to show everyone that we have the support to beat him. Will you rush in a donation before her midnight deadline?
Just in the last few years, Sen. Cornyn voted twenty times to rip health care away from millions of Texans, repeatedly opposed bills to lower prescription drug prices, and stood in the way of any meaningful action on gun safety — even after multiple mass shootings in our own state.
That’s not okay — and MJ will do things differently. She’ll fight for us tooth and nail every single day, and her votes will always be based on what's best for Texans, not who's writing the biggest checks.
Unidos en la lucha,
