Anti-abortion extremists are attacking reproductive healthcare from every angle. The recent Alabama Supreme Court ruling on IVF was just the start. It’s scary, but true: at least 13 states have already introduced legislation that considers embryos as people.

The Alabama ruling emboldened Republicans who want a nationwide abortion ban, to criminalize miscarriages, take away birth control access, and end IVF. But here’s the thing: this devastating ruling has emboldened us too.

Every single one of our Vote Mama endorsed candidates is pro-choice. These moms are out there on the frontlines fighting to protect our reproductive rights and defend IVF from far-right attacks. From statehouses all the way up to the U.S. Senate, our elected alumnae have introduced legislation to protect abortion access and defend IVF.

Voters have made their stance on reproductive justice clear — time and again, abortion has WON at the ballot. But conservatives are ignoring the will of the American people by continuing these extremist anti-choice attacks on reproductive healthcare. 

As pro-choice advocates, we must rally together and continue the fight for protections of our reproductive rights and bodily autonomy. We must support enshrining abortion, protecting contraceptives, and protecting our choices of when, how, or if we have a child. And we must continue to elect leaders -- like our pro-choice Democratic mamas -- who will pass legislation to protect those rights and aren't afraid to be held them accountable once elected.
