MEDIA ADVISORY: Friends With Paws to welcome next therapy dog tomorrow at Sherman High School at 12:15 p.m.

WHO: Representatives from First Lady Cathy Justice’s Office, Boone County Schools Superintendent Matthew Riggs, Sherman High School Principal Todd Barnette, Boone County Schools Board President Susan Kimbler, Boone County Schools Board Members, local officials.
WHAT: Introduction of Captain, a male Golden Retriever, who is the 23rd therapy dog to be placed as part of First Lady Cathy Justice's Friends With Paws initiative.
The Friends With Paws program is a partnership between the Governor’s Office, West Virginia Communities In Schools Nonprofit, and the West Virginia Department of Education. Therapy dogs will be placed in CIS program schools where students are disproportionately affected by poverty, substance misuse, or other at-risk situations, and are in the greatest need of a support animal. The dogs will serve as a healthy and friendly outlet for these students to address trauma and other social-emotional issues.
