ICYMI: REP. CARTER CELEBRATES FIRST DISTRICT’S IRISH HERITAGE

Last weekend, I had the honor and privilege of participating in Savannah's annual St. Patrick's Day festivities. I cannot count how many times I have participated in this event and I look forward to marching in many more. It is rare that I get a chance to meet with thousands of constituents at once, but every year I am reminded of how lucky I am represent to the best district in America. Last week, I was able to speak on the House floor about the importance that this weekend has not only economically but socially for our community. You can watch that speech HERE.

My favorite part of St. Patrick's Day is not the celebration or the pageantry, it is the opportunity to speak to you about issues that impact your everyday life. The best way for me to represent you effectively in Washington is by talking with you, my constituents, one on one.

After having the opportunity to interact with all of you, I wanted to fill you in on what has been happening in Washington. This year in Congress, House Republicans are committed to countering radical proposals from our friends on the left. This means going after excessive government overreach, securing our southern border, and lowering health care costs for Americans. At the end of last year, the House passed H.R. 5378, the Lower Cost More Transparency Act, with large bipartisan support. If enacted, this legislation will bring transparency and help lower the skyrocketing costs of health care.
