Hi friend,
Today is a very special day: International Day of Forests!Â
From the firs and pines in the San Gabriel Mountains, to the clean water streams beneath the highlands of SáttÃtla, to the mountain lions and tule elk in the Berryessa woodlands, California has many forest ecosystems that we are doing everything we can to protect.
My entire role at EnviroVoters is dedicated to advocating for public lands — the most effective and comprehensive yet often underutilized solution to the climate crisis. I am helping lead the organization’s effort on national monument expansion by coordinating with coalitions, Tribes, and members of Congress to get the Biden Administration on board with the public lands movement.
By pressuring our federal government to officially designate these lands as national monuments, we are ensuring that forests in California are protected from future damages and that many more can bounce back from decades of mismanagement and neglect.
Now here’s where you come in, friend. Our campaigns require support to be successful, and we need all the help we can get. This International Day of Forests, help us protect California’s forests with a gift to support EnviroVoters’ public lands protection efforts → [link removed]
Forests are a huge part of our efforts to protect public lands in California. Nearly 1/3 of California’s land is forest, adding up to a total of 33 million acres! They act as incredibly efficient carbon sinks that naturally sequester atmospheric carbon into plant mass and soil, while also being home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.
I hope you can agree that these forests are worth protecting for the sake of our freshwater, recreation space, Indigenous partners, and more. Help us out today with a gift to our public lands campaign work, friend → [link removed]
Thank you for standing up for California’s invaluable forests.
