As part of the launch, ELWJ Senior Policy Analyst India Heckstall presented the coalition’s first publication, which highlights three impactful cases studies of organizations that are building workforce development strategies outside the national workforce system. The case studies, which offer concrete examples of what a workforce system rooted in worker power could look like, looked at Healthcare Career Advancement Program (H-CAP), a national labor-management organization which focuses on health care workers; Restaurant Opportunities Centers (ROC) United, which represents over 65,000 restaurant workers; and the Milwaukee Area Service and Hospitality Workers Organization (MASH), which advocates for more than 1,000 service and hospitality workers.

In a new brief, CLASP analyzes A Stronger Workforce for America Act (ASWA). The brief examines ASWA’s drawbacks and offers groundbreaking solutions to enhance the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and pave the way for a more inclusive and worker-centered workforce development system.
