Dear john,
Today marks one year since Castner Range was designated a National Monument.
I continue to feel so much gratitude for everyone who was part of the process behind this enormous undertaking. The work — while a labor of love — was at times filled with moments of anxiety and doubt, but after decades of perseverance, we brought its protection across the finish line.
Castner Range’s designation was made in mind for the benefit of all future generations of Americans, especially El Pasoans, and certainly one of the proudest moments of my time in Congress.
You can read my op-ed for the El Paso Times from last year here.
