Hey John,

Most of you know my story, or about how I got here, but I know our movement continues to grow every day, and I’d like to share a little more about myself.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here’s my life in (a select few) photos!

I was raised by two loving parents and lost my father to lung cancer in high school. He raised us on a farm and taught us valuable life lessons that have made me the person I am today. I miss him so much. 

My mom was one of the first women to be a television “newsreader” in the 70’s. It was a time when women weren’t welcomed in the newsroom, but my mom helped put a big crack in that glass ceiling.

I worked for Vice President Al Gore from 1998-2000 as a member of his national advance team.

I married my amazing wife Caroline in 2007 at the Good Hope Baptist Church in Cary.

I stayed in the campaign world and worked on President Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008.

I stuck around with President Obama and worked for the Obama/Biden White House in the first term.

I settled into my home and started my own law practice in Cary, North Carolina.

My incredible kids Adeline and Prescott were born, and we’ve raised quite the family!

I ran for State Senate and served this great state for two terms.

In 2022, I ran to represent NC-13 and the values of working North Carolina families in Congress... and WON!

And now, after being gerrymandered out of my Congressional seat by the extreme GOP, I am committed to helping elect pro-democracy Democrats up and down the ballot.

We are rounding the first corner of this Election Year, and we need to work together to make sure we elect leaders who care about voting rights, free and fair elections, and ensuring that every voter's voice is heard. Can you chip in today to support our efforts?
