Friend,

Last week, the House of Representatives voted to pass the Protecting Americans
from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act. This would prohibit
marketplaces, like app stores or web hosting services, from hosting
applications controlled by our foreign adversaries in the United States.

This bill would make TikTok sever ties with its parent company, a Chinese
company called ByteDance, which is the Big Tech arm of the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP). The bill was passed by the House 252-65 with strong, bipartisan
support. It’s clear and simple that TikTok is toxic. Time and time again,
TikTok has shown that it is a risk to the minds of our children and national
security.

It's digital fentanyl for our kids’ growing minds, purveying anti-American and
anti-democratic propaganda while also stealing their personal data. Passing
this act was essential to preventing our nation from being spied on by the CCP
and protecting our citizen's privacy online.

I want to make the critical distinction that this legislation is not a ban on
TikTok but instead would force the divestment of TikTok by a CCP-controlled
tech company. This makes clear that Congress will never allow our adversaries
to poison our young minds and invade the US through digital means.
