** Newsletter | March
------------------------------------------------------------

In March we honor the women throughout history who have survived, triumphed, and fought against violence and oppression. Historically women have been at the forefront of anti-violence movements as leaders, advocates, and policymakers.

This month serves as a reminder to recognize the progress made in addressing gender-based violence while acknowledging our ongoing challenges. During Women’s History Month and every month, we here at POV will continue to amplify the voices of women, support survivors, and work towards building safe and healthy communities for everyone.

** Share your story
------------------------------------------------------------

Peace Over Violence's Survivor Speakers Bureau Voices Over Violence is a group of individuals that share and discuss openly and educationally their experiences with sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and domestic violence. Voices Over Violence also invites significant others, family members, and friends to share their experience with sexual and/or domestic violence/intimate partner violence as they experienced it while supporting a survivor. We often get requests from the community for survivors to speak about their experiences through presentations, panel discussions, and media interviews to educate the public about the realities of interpersonal violence. Speakers are able to address common myths surrounding violence, resources, and the healing process.

If you are a survivor of child sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, stalking, or sexual assault and would like to share your story, please contact Shirley LaBrie at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Voices%20Over%20Violence&body=) for more information and/or an application.

** Video Contest Winners
------------------------------------------------------------

In our ongoing efforts to combat teen dating violence and foster healthy relationships among youth, we recently hosted the "Make a Choice: Building Healthy Boundaries" Video Contest. This initiative aimed to empower young people to take a stand against dating violence and promote the importance of setting and respecting boundaries.

We were thrilled to see participation from various schools and local nonprofits, including the Bresee Foundation, who joined hands with us to spread awareness and engage youth in this vital cause. We received inspiring entries that shed light on the prevalence of dating violence among teens and offered creative solutions to address this issue.

Congratulations to our first prize winner, Dayana Perez ([link removed]) , for their outstanding contributions to the contest. Your creativity, passion, and dedication to promoting healthy boundaries are truly commendable! As we continue our journey toward a future free from teen dating violence, we invite all youth to join us in making a difference. Let's work together to build a world where everyone can thrive in safe and respectful relationships. Together, we can create a brighter and healthier tomorrow for generations to come.

** It’s Not You ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------

By Dr. Ramani Durvasula

“Thriving after, or even during, a narcissistic relationship can be challenging, but It’s Not You shows you it is possible. Dr. Ramani invites you to stop blaming yourself and trying to change the narcissistic person, and to start giving yourself permission to let go of their hold on you and finally embrace your true self.”

** The Vanishing Half ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------

By Brit Bennett

“Weaving together multiple strands and generations of this family, from the Deep South to California, from the 1950s to the 1990s, Brit Bennett produces a story that is at once a riveting, emotional family story and a brilliant exploration of the American history of passing. Looking well beyond issues of race, The Vanishing Half considers the lasting influence of the past as it shapes a person's decisions, desires, and expectations, and explores some of the multiple reasons and realms in which people sometimes feel pulled to live as something other than their origins.”
