Hey John,

We’ve heard from a few people who aren’t clear what this special election means for our race to flip CO-04. So I thought we’d take a minute to clear up any confusion.

Let me start with this: YES the primary for this race is still happening, and YES, our campaign is still solidly in the lead.

A new poll has our campaign leading the field among Democratic voters by double digits. We are closing in fast on our massive fundraising goal to close out the quarter. Everything is still on track.

What’s happening now: Representative Ken Buck is leaving Congress TOMORROW, and now there’s a special election to fill his seat for the rest of this year.

The special election has to happen fast, and the governor’s office decided the best and most cost-effective way to handle it is to run that special election at the same time as the Democratic primary.

So when voters head to the polls in just over three months, they’re going to be voting in the next representative for the 4th district – immediately.

On the same ballot, they’ll be voting for the candidate they want to be their Democratic nominee for the regular election happening in November.

That’s two elections happening on the same ballot, on the same day – only three months from now – and we’re in the running for BOTH.

That doesn’t give Democrats a lot of runway, John, and that’s where (thanks to all of you), we have a HUGE advantage.

For Democrats to flip CO-04 at the special election in June, we need a candidate on the top of the ticket with a built-in base of support, the fundraising, and the team already in place to pull this off. Our campaign is the only one with all three.

To hold the line here, we need to bring in a massive surge of grassroots donations before the end of the quarter, and with only 10 days to go we can’t slip for even a minute. Will you dig deep and give whatever you can to flip CO-04 today?

When we win this special election and flip this seat, we will have a HUGE advantage going into November. But it also means our job will get a lot harder.

First, Boebert isn’t on the ballot for this special election – she can’t run because she’s already in Congress. But she WILL be the Republican nominee in November.

Second, if I win this special election, I’ll be headed to Washington to get straight to work. That means I’ll have to grow our infrastructure and rely on my team even more than I already do to keep the campaign going strong.

Every dollar counts right now, John. Ken Buck handed Democrats a massive opportunity with his early retirement. We can’t let this opening go to waste.

Let’s do this!

Semper Fi,

Ike McCorkle
