VIDEO OF THE DAY: Jamie Raskin smacks down House Republican clowns
The star Democrat turned the Republicans' sham impeachment charade on its head yesterday, quizzing one-time Rudy Giuliani ally Lev Parnas on the pathetic specifics of their yearslong, crooked campaign to dig up dirt on President Biden. Despite their best efforts, the GOP has found ZERO evidence against Biden, but they have proven — time and time again — that the baseless accusations against the president came directly from Russia, with the bone-headed assistance of current Republican officeholders all too eager to do Vladimir Putin's bidding. Enough already.

Trump actually considering "Little Marco" Rubio as a potential VP pick
The race to become the MAGA cult leader's hapless #2 has officially kicked into high gear, with a string of head-scratching names appearing on various lists — perhaps none more surprising than Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who once (accurately) called Trump a "con artist" during their acrimonious battle for the GOP nomination in 2016. The pair took regular shots at each other's hair, make-up, anatomy (seriously), and occasionally even policy positions before a struggling "Little Marco" Rubio predictably fell in line and pledged fealty to the serial fraudster once he secured the nomination in 2016. Kiss that ring, Marco!

Arizona State Senator Eva Burch stuns Republicans by bravely sharing her abortion story
Eva for Arizona: State Sen. Eva Burch made national headlines for taking to the Arizona Senate floor and bravely telling the story of how she is struggling to find abortion care for an unviable pregnancy, forcing Republicans to reckon with the very real and very painful consequences of their cruel abortion bans. Now she needs your help to fight off the Republicans trying to kick her out of office and silence her voice. Will you chip in and help Eva Burch fuel her fight for our rights?
James Comer says he will ask President Biden to testify in impeachment probe
Republican House dope and obvious glutton for punishment James Comer just won't let his flailing, futile, and incredibly stupid impeachment crusade die its long-overdue death, vowing now to compel President Biden to personally testify in the pointless, wasteful probe. Comer made the ridiculous announcement on social media after wrapping up a hearing in which Democrats relentlessly mocked him for having failed so far to produce a shred of evidence that could warrant removing Biden from office. Bang up job, James. Keep up the good work!

GOP Speaker Johnson brags secretive spending deal includes embassy Pride flag ban
The virulently anti-LGBTQ Republican House speaker, who once called same-sex marriage a "dark harbinger of chaos" — has been scrambling to secure the necessary Republican votes needed to pass critical funding legislation to keep the federal government from shutting down. To make his case to skeptical GOP colleagues, he's apparently been bragging about a provision tucked in the bill that bans Pride flags from being flown at US embassies. You see, funding the government is all well and good, but what really excites Republicans these days is any opportunity to advance their heartless crusade against marginalized people who dare to exist in a different manner than them. A Democrat familiar with the text of the package said the ban actually prohibits the flying of any flag other than the US flag and imposes no restrictions on embassy officials’ "personal" use of Pride flags. But you do you, Mike. Whatever gets your goons to the table, we guess?

California voters pass Proposition 1 to tackle the state's ongoing homelessness crisis
California voters have approved a measure that will impose strict requirements on counties to adequately spend on housing and drug treatment programs to tackle the state's homelessness crisis, in a tissue-thin win for Gov. Gavin Newsom, who personally campaigned for the measure's passage. The state accounts for nearly a third of the homeless population in the United States; roughly 181,000 Californians are in need of housing. Newsom, who made the measure a signature proposal, spent significant time and money campaigning on its behalf. He raised more than $13 million to promote it with the support of law enforcement, first responders, hospitals, and mayors of major cities. Opponents raised just $1,000. Proposition 1 marks the first update to the state's mental health system in 20 years. It's about damn time.

Netanyahu addresses Senate Republicans days after Schumer calls for his ouster
The embattled Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu — whose relentless and indiscriminate bombardment of Gaza has flattened the region and triggered one of the most staggering humanitarian crises in recent memory — virtually addressed Republican senators in Washington on Wednesday, days after Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, called him an impediment to peace in an unsparing floor speech. Mitch McConnell said Netanyahu called him last week and asked for an opportunity to address Republican members of his conference and he accepted. Netanyahu asked to address Senate Democrats at their caucus lunch on Wednesday as well, but Schumer declined. The dueling responses underscore the increasingly partisan divide over the United States' support for Israel’s military campaign that has killed nearly 32,000 Palestinians (including more than 13,000 children) and pushed the population to the brink of famine.

Elon Musk's incredibly troubling MAGA alliance is strengthening
When the billionaire tech bozo took over Twitter, he promised that the network would remain politically neutral, which he subsequently and immediately proved was a laughable lie with his full-throated embrace of the right wing. But over the past few weeks, Musk's personal nüTwitter feed has become an endless spigot of disgusting white supremacist propaganda. On Monday, Musk retweeted a video entitled "The Democrat Open Borders Plan to Entrench One Party Rule" with the caption "this is actually happening!" Over the weekend, he posted, "There is either a red wave this November or America is doomed." Earlier this month, the drug-addled diva accused President Biden of treason and declared, "It is highly probable that the groundwork is being laid for something far worse than 9/11." It's clear that Musk has thrown his lot in with Trump and the GOP — as if there weren't enough dangerously bigoted and unhinged lunatics with gobs of cash in MAGAworld already.
In a boost for EVs, the Biden administration finalizes strict new limits on tailpipe emissions
After nearly a year of frantic lobbying and debate, the EPA has finalized strict new rules on vehicle emissions that will push the auto industry to accelerate its transition to electric vehicles. The EPA expects that under the new rules, electric vehicles could account for up to 56% of new passenger vehicles sold for model years 2030 through 2032, meeting a goal that President Biden set in 2021. "Three years ago, I set an ambitious target: that half of all new cars and trucks sold in 2030 would be zero-emission," Biden said in a statement, adding that the country will meet that goal "and race forward in the years ahead."
Wisconsin GOP Senate candidate Eric Hovde used Bermuda to evade federal taxes
What's that? Oh, just another Republican "patriot" skirting the system to avoid paying his fair share in corporate taxes by investing tens of millions of dollars in offshore companies. Eric Hovde, through a family asset company run by his brother Steven, reported investments worth $74 million in companies — all curiously based in Bermuda. Until a recent piece of legislation in the British territory, Bermuda had been a tax haven for the ultra-wealthy due to the country previously having no corporate income tax rate. But wait, there's (always) more! Hovde specifically bemoaned the tried-and-true tax evasion strategy he personally has benefitted from during an economic forum in 2021, saying, "This is one I really agree with them on [a corporate tax rate] because I've always hated it. Companies like Goldman Sachs or Apple can put all their technology in offshore places and pay no taxes. Most of our top corporations pay little to no taxes." Somebody get this guy a mirror.
