ACLU Supporter – Yesterday, together with our partners, we filed lawsuits against three states – Ohio, Alabama, and Iowa – over their executive orders shutting down access to abortion care. Let's call this out for what it is: exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic to stop people from getting abortions. We won't let that happen. Abortion care is essential, time-sensitive health care – and the clinics that provide them must stay open. In fact, mere hours after filing our Ohio and Alabama lawsuits, judges issued an order allowing the clinics to continue providing abortion care in both states. That's a good sign, but we have a long fight ahead of us. Clearly, some lawmakers will stop at nothing to push abortion care out of reach. Doing so is a violation of our rights at any time, but during a pandemic, the consequences are even more dire. Pregnancies don't stop just because of a public health crisis. And preventing people from getting abortion care doesn't stop the need for pregnant people to see their doctors – nor does it help us fight this pandemic. It just forces people to stay pregnant – and have children – against their will. Now more than ever, we should be taking care of our health and each other. Science and public health, not politics, must guide us. It's only with the help of people like you that we can continue this lifesaving work. Thanks for your support,
