Pittsburgh Public Schools board voted to authorize legal action against Allegheny County to compel a county-wide property tax reassessment ([link removed]) .

After several Downtown commercial buildings won appeals this year, the district has seen significant reductions in its tax base.

District solicitor Ira Weiss said a reassessment is necessary because without it, higher-end properties end up undertaxed, and lower-end properties are overtaxed.
