John,
Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. Yet far too often, rent skyrockets while landlords refuse to adequately maintain their properties.
A few years ago, people suffered when a hedge fund owned landlord let their properties fall into disrepair. No Minnesotan should have to live in a home that loses heat, lacks hot water, and is infested with pests and mold due to a landlord's negligence. So, we sued them.
Late last week, they settled – agreeing to pay tenants $2.2 million and forgive another $2 million in outstanding rent. This is a huge win for Minnesota renters.
This settlement is a signal to landlords that they cannot use their legal and economic power over renters to take advantage of them. And when they do, I’ll continue to stand up to them and fight for hard-working Minnesotans who deserve better than substandard housing.
You elected me Attorney General to ensure that every Minnesotan can live with dignity, safety, and respect. None of this would be possible without you and the grassroots movement we’ve built together, and we’re not stopping here.
John, will give $10, $25, $50, or whatever works for you right now so we can continue building our movement?
