We have an urgent update, John:

We just learned that HHSC has proposed additional restrictions for transgender adults covered by Medicaid, now restricting all “prescription medications and surgical procedures used for the purposes of transitioning biological sex.” This would mean the vast majority of transgender Texans with Medicaid would be denied coverage for their medically necessary, life-saving healthcare.

Can you support trans Texans by submitting a comment before 5 p.m. tomorrow?

What: Submit comments against anti-trans HHSC policy changes

When: ASAP! The comment period ends tomorrow (3/21) at 5 p.m.

We know this is short notice, so we've made it as easy as possible. Just fill out our advocacy form below to submit a pre-written comment to HHSC.

On HHSC's website, it says, “Texas HHSC ensures that policies are medically appropriate, patient-centered, transparent and based on the best available evidence.” This change would go against everything they say they stand for.

Restricting care to any Texan is wrong, but continuing to target trans and gender-expansive people is cruel. Let's hold HHSC accountable and make sure they know that Texans believe trans people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect!
