This week marks three years since the mass shootings in Atlanta, GA, and Boulder, CO . To honor the victims and survivors, we've set a goal to gather 10,000 names on our petition to BAN assault weapons, but we're still missing your response, John. If you're one of the majority of Americans who support banning these weapons of war, will you take action now? [[link removed]]

John, three years ago, communities on opposite sides of our country were torn apart by two back-to-back mass shootings.
In Atlanta, a gunman went on a violent rampage targeting Asian-Americans and killed eight people. Less than a week later , another gunman in Boulder, CO, used a semi-automatic AR-15 style assault weapon to murder 10 people at a local grocery store.
Still, Congress failed to ban assault weapons and our nation has continued to pay the price. In 2023, there were over 650 mass shootings in our nation, nearly double the amount of days in the year. And each shooting where an assault weapon was used meant more carnage, because these weapons are made to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
Banning assault weapons is not only proven to save lives, it’s also supported by the majority of Americans. Yet, politicians in the gun lobby’s pocket have blocked this legislation at every turn and willfully let people die in the process. The mass casualties in Atlanta and Boulder should not have been possible. The mass shootings that followed – in Highland Park, Uvalde, Lewiston – should not have been possible. But it's not too late to take action.
We can free our country from mass tragedy. We know how to do it because the assault weapons ban is proven to work – it’s worked for our country before, and it’s long past time to pass this legislation again. That's why we're asking 10,000 activists to take a stand for the victims of mass shootings and honor those we’ve lost with action. If you're one of the majority of Americans who support an assault weapons ban, will you add your name to Brady's urgent petition right now?
