The momentum we've witnessed Bob acquire over the last four months has been astounding and very encouraging.
As some campaigns struggle in the first quarter, our progress never stopped. It's because of you. Thank you.
But, friends, the truth is - to continue growing our campaign, to fund our field team, our communications outreach, yard signs, and organize our volunteers, we need campaign-sustaining donations to propel us to the top in our August primary.
As much as Bob is a proponent of campaign-finance reform, we also need to save a lot of money for the general election to invest in television advertising, mailers, and the gamut of materials required to get Bob Lorinser's name in front of voters.
We know we can win in November for a several reasons.
Rep. Jack Bergman has never faced a second-time challenger. The last repeat-Democratic candidate in MI01 to challenge an incumbent lost by just half a percentage point in a rematch.
With you, we can absolutely do this.
Our obstacle in 2020 - first-time challengers rarely have the name recognition to make a dent in the electorate. But, the opportunity for a two-cycle strategy to work here is ripe.
In the last cycle, Bob raised more grassroots donations than any other Michigan Democrat facing an incumbent. He moved the needle for Dems by five points in our geographic area.
This year, we can do this.
We can flip this House blue.
I've never seen Bob more energized to win. Our challenge is steep, so we need a powerhouse campaigner. We can win this district back and put it back in the hands of the people.
