Dear John,
The coronavirus outbreak hasn’t slowed down Big Polluters from trying to enrich themselves at the expense of people and our planet. And it hasn’t slowed us down here at Friends of the Earth, either.
In fact, we’re ramping up to fight new threats that are emerging every day.
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to help us fund our critical work without spending a dime: Vote for Friends of the Earth now!
You may have heard that Trump’s EPA is threatening to suspend enforcement of essential environmental laws, telling polluting corporations that they won’t need to meet environmental standards during the pandemic. This is OUTRAGEOUS.
Already, marginalized communities tend to live closer to dirty power plants and waste sites -- and low-income people are more likely to get and die from COVID-19. This is the time to increase protections for the most vulnerable among us, not lower them.
We’re rapidly shifting our priorities and programs to respond to polluters trying to exploit this crisis.
That’s why, on this last day of voting, we urgently need you to take a few seconds and vote for CREDO Mobile to donate to Friends of the Earth.
We’re among a few organizations the progressive phone service provider CREDO Mobile has selected to help fund this month, and we’re at the end of the month today. The more votes we get, the more CREDO will donate to us.
And we need support now more than ever.
We just had a hard-fought win, thanks to members like you: Trump just signed into law the largest government rescue package in American history. And we succeeded in preventing that law from including billions of dollars in oil purchases that would've gone straight to the pockets of Big Oil corporations.
But it’s not over. Trump and his corporate cronies are trying to take advantage of the confusion and chaos around the COVID-19 outbreak to sneak in projects like further subsidizing drilling on our public lands and waters and easing the way for pipeline construction.
We don’t have time to waste. And today’s your last chance to help us secure critical funding, just by clicking here and taking a few seconds to vote for us.
Regards,
Erich Pica,
President,
Friends of the Earth
