March is Brain Injury Awareness Month

In observance of Brain Injury Awareness Month this March, we acknowledge the profound impact of traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) on individuals and communities. The Traumatic Brain Injury Strategic Partnership Advisory Council of Washington State (TBI Council), established under RCW 74.31, is at the forefront of advocacy and support. Comprising 25 members from various sectors, including public and private entities, individuals affected by TBI, medical professionals, caregivers, tribal nations, and state agencies, the TBI Council embodies a collaborative effort to address the multifaceted challenges posed by TBIs.

Mission and Objectives

The TBI Council collaborates closely with the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) and other state agencies to fulfill its mission, which includes:

  • Spreading awareness and education about TBI and its prevention.
  • Identifying needs and gaps in TBI services, resources, and projects.
  • Creating partnerships and coordination across public and private sectors.

Support and Resources

Recognizing that TBI can affect anyone, the TBI Council and DSHS offer a range of support, information, and referral services, including:
