If working families build community together to organize, plan, and mobilize — we can hold elected officials accountable and pass relief that actually puts people, not the corporations, first.
Working Families Party

The gravity of this moment weighs heavily on all of us, but particularly for those who are sick, caring for loved ones, out of work, or working long hours on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. We see you and we understand that not everyone has the ability to donate at this time. As always, any action you take means the world to us. Thank you.

So much has changed in a short time, John.

We started this year standing with Elizabeth Warren and her fight for big, structural change. When the field began to narrow, we were proud to join Bernie Sanders. All along, we have been ramping up our efforts to elect thousands of progressives across the country in 2020.

Then in just a matter of days, the rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic rocked all of our worlds and set into motion a series of sudden and scary changes in our lives.

Right now, millions of working people across this country are suddenly unemployed and finding themselves without healthcare or even money to pay the rent tomorrow. Essential workers — in hospitals, at grocery stores, and at Amazon warehouses — are risking their lives every day to fight this pandemic and continuing to serve the people, including many who don’t have access to paid sick time if they fall ill.

Now more than ever, we must continue to fight for one another and see to it that our elected officials do the same.

If you are able, will you chip in $3 before a critical quarterly fundraising deadline at midnight tonight to help the Working Families Party keep up our fight for an expanded safety net and a just rebuilding of our economy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic?

We’ve had to shift our organizing strategies quickly, but we’re not missing a beat.

Last weekend, hundreds of people showed up for our #PeoplesBailout digital rally with Stacey Abrams, Rev. Dr. William Barber II, and many other activists to talk about the $2 trillion stimulus bill passed by Congress and what we still need to fight for. And hundreds of WFP members joined us for our monthly WFP Assembly to hear from Dr. Abdul El-Sayed and Sara Nelson about how we can come together in this moment to fight for Medicare for All, and for workers on the frontlines.

Meanwhile, we’ve also rapidly shifted our electoral organizing to meet the challenges of a world where social distancing is the new normal, finding new ways to reach voters and make sure that elections and our democracy are protected.

It’s clear that the challenges we face are immense. But we believe that if working families build community together to organize, plan, and mobilize — just like we have in the first three months of this year — we can hold elected officials accountable and pass relief that actually puts people, not the corporations, first.

But none of that work is possible without your support. If you are able, please chip in $3 before a critical quarterly fundraising deadline at midnight tonight. Your support will have an immediate impact on our digital organizing work in the days and weeks ahead.

We’re always grateful for your support, but now more than ever it means the world to us. Stay healthy and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Team WFP
