In March 2010, President Barack Obama fulfilled a promise that many politicians before pursued for nearly a century: making quality, affordable health care available to all Americans. Today, we celebrate 14 years of the Affordable Care Act. Since its passage, the ACA has expanded healthcare coverage to over 40 million Americans and brought the number of uninsured Americans to an all-time low. The bill expanded Medicaid eligibility, let more young people stay on their parents’ insurance plans, and made buying insurance more affordable. | Then-Vice President Biden presided over the U.S. Senate during its passage and has continued to fight to lower the cost of healthcare under his Administration. President Biden has fought to lower prescription drug costs for seniors by allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices and used his office to lower the costs of insulin to $35/month for those with insurance. I was proud to vote for the President’s American Rescue Plan, which empowered him to deliver $37 billion to all states to expand access to home care and improve the quality of caregiving jobs. I know higher costs are at the top of minds of many voters, please find resources on my website dedicated to helping families make ends meet.
