People with ID face alarming gaps in health care –– intimidation at the gym, unequal care at the doctor’s office, and heartbreaking chronic health outcomes. Many people with ID are denied health services, so a Special Olympics-supported health exam is often the first care opportunity an athlete may have had in a long time.
