Our campaign came closer than any Democratic challenger in the entire state to flipping a red seat. We were just a few points short, and that was despite Kevin McCarthy's super PAC allies spending $16 million against us.
Winning back the House majority runs through CA-22, and I intend to finish what we started. But I can't do this alone. If we're going to win, I'll need your help in standing up for American Democracy and protecting our rights.

Twelve years ago, I made history when I became the first Latino elected to Bakersfield's City Council and with your help, we will make history again by becoming the first Latino from the Central Valley to serve in Congress.
During my five terms in the California State Legislature, we brought down costs for seniors, passed overtime pay for farmworkers, invested in our children and made drinking water safer for our communities.
My opponent David Valadao and his party bosses in Washington are making life harder for families in CA-22. At a time when costs are rising, Valadao is currently voting the party line to raise health care costs, cutting “meals on wheels” for seniors and cutting veterans' benefits. While our freedom rights as Americans are under attack in the Supreme Court, Valadao is a co-author on legislation for a national abortion ban, even if a woman is raped.
We deserve better. The Central Valley is the beating heart of our state, and we deserve someone who will do what’s right for America and Central Valley families. I'd be honored to have your support on day one.
