Bear Ridge Community Forest | Ilwaco, Washington

Trust for Public Land partnered with the City of Ilwaco—a small, rural town near the Washington-Oregon border—to purchase 380 forested acres within its local watershed to establish the Bear Ridge Community Forest. By managing its community forest, Ilwaco will be able to create trails for outdoor recreation and add sustainable timber jobs. But above all, the city has permanently protected its drinking water, ensuring Ilwaco remains a healthy, livable community for generations to come. Ensure communities own and manage their forests and watersheds, like the Bear Ridge Community Forest project.

McKinleyville Community Forest | McKinleyville, California

With help from our partners, TPL protected 599 acres of Sitka spruce, redwood, and Douglas fir forest on the edge of McKinleyville. Near the heart of the town, this forest allows close-to-home access for a community significantly lacking in park space. It’s perfect for a quick walk, a classroom trip, or an afternoon in the woods, as it includes over 5 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding, scouting for wildflowers, or catching glimpses of wildlife. Rumford Community Forest | Rumford, Maine

Trust for Public Land and partners helped a local nonprofit purchase 446 acres of land to become Rumford’s first community forest. The land is open to the public for year-round enjoyment and activities like hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, skiing and snowmobiling. Rumford Community Forest connects to and enhances beloved local trails such as the ITS-82, a popular snowmobiling trail network, and Pennacook Area Community Trails, high-quality mountain bike trails. Create paths for recreation and connection with your gift.
