Comrade,

The coronavirus pandemic is showing us just how broken and unfair the power structures in America can be. Now more than ever we need champions of public programs to fight against such severe inequities. Janeese Lewis George — endorsed by our DSA chapter in November — is running for the Ward 4 seat on the D.C. Council to do just that.

While you’re social distancing, can you take some time to help elect Janeese? Sign-up for an at-home volunteer opportunity!

There are several ways to help out:

  • 📱 Make calls to voters. The first 30 minutes of every shift is reserved for an orientation to walk you through how to do it. DSA makes calls every Sunday, but you can make calls on any day or night you’re available. Sign up here.

  • 📬 Write postcards to voters. Want to write some postcards while you're home? Janeese’s campaign will drop a stack of postcards at your front door along with addresses of where to send them. Sign up here.

  • 🔊 Coordinate chapter communications. Draft and send texts, emails, and social media posts to local DSA members about Janeese’s campaign. Sign up here.

Our chapter endorsed Janeese due to her strong commitment to social and economic justice. Here are a few of Janeese’s stances on the issues:

  • 🏢 Supports strengthening and expanding rent control.

  • ☕ Previously backed Initiative 77, and the One Fair Wage campaign, for tipped restaurant and service industry workers.

  • ❌ Has refused to take campaign donations from local utilities and fossil fuel companies.

  • 🏫 Will invest in our neighborhood public schools and fight for universal child care.

Our chapter is excited to continue supporting Janeese as we build power in D.C. If you have questions about how to get involved, please reply directly to this email.

In solidarity,

The Metro D.C. DSA Ward 4 Electoral Working Group
