Dear John

We have all been affected by the changes necessitated by the coronavirus crisis; everyone is adjusting to the new reality, but animals need your help as much as ever.

We have a post on our website explaining how we are continuing our work; please have a read, if you haven't already. Thank you!

Please support Animal Aid!

The world may seem to be grinding to a halt because of coronavirus, but, behind the scenes, animals are still being imprisoned in factory farms and killed in slaughterhouses, on a massive scale. Sadly, it’s business as usual. And Animal Aid’s hidden cameras have revealed lawbreaking and shocking deliberate cruelty in many UK slaughterhouses.

Help us to expose the truth and campaign for change: join the Animal Aid Lottery today.

Help spread awareness for imprisoned game birds

Across the country, thousands upon thousands of game birds, who are used for breeding purposes, are confined in claustrophobic cages. Because they are semi-wild, they will find this imprisonment even more unbearable.

Help us to raise awareness of their plight by sharing our campaign website, which shows what they have to endure, on all social platforms.

The end of the badger cull?

In March, the government announced that it intends to phase out the badger cull, and will be introducing a vaccination programme. While we welcome this move, Animal Aid continues to call for an immediate end to this cruel and unscientific cull, and we encourage people not to support the dairy industry who have called for this cull.

Support our call for mandatory CCTV in Welsh slaughterhouses

We’re delighted to announce that more than 4,500 people have now taken our e-action urging the Welsh government to introduce mandatory CCTV for slaughterhouses without delay! If you’ve yet to take action, you can do so here.

There will be a debate at the Welsh Assembly on the subject of CCTV for Welsh slaughterhouses, hopefully in May, but things are a little up in the air with the Assembly currently closed. The debate is following the publication of a Welsh government committee report on Animal Aid’s petition.

A call for action from the education department

In spite of schools being closed for the majority of students, we are keen to continue to get our message of compassion across. We have a wide range of free resources for teachers and pupils to use:

Teachers can also arrange an online talk or Q&A session via Skype or Zoom for their students. Email Karin to arrange this.

Please share this message on social media wherever you can and spread the word about our amazing online resources.

An update from our online shop

We made the difficult decision to temporarily close the Animal Aid shop in light of the current crisis.

THANK YOU to all our wonderful customers. We hope you are all keeping safe and well – we'll 'see' you soon! ❤️
