**MCBA's Capital Bond Transparency Recommendations**

On Friday, March 8, MCBA President and CEO Louis Darrouzet submitted an
official letter containing seven recommendations for transparency and
expenditure as a response to the city's proposed $1.25 billion Capital
Bond. The city council's proposal should deeply concern the business
community and all Dallas taxpayers, as it will place the city in an
unsustainable financial position for years to come. Read the MCBA letter

**Adopt-a-Block**

MCBA President Louis Darrouzet was in the Dallas Observer this month to
make the case for our new cleanup initiative, Adopt-a-Block
. Please take the time to read his article,
"Adopt-a-Block Wants to Make Dallas Sparkle"
-where
he argues that disorder is contagious, and we must work together to
reverse it so that Dallas can become the most attractive city in
America.

The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded $80 million to the North
Central Texas Council of Governments on March 13 for four transportation
projects in the metroplex.

The funds will be used to build pedestrian bridges and plazas over or
underneath different highways at four areas in Dallas and McKinney:

**1.**I-30 Canyon project

Rising prices have been a concern for many Americans, and a recently
released report sheds light on the cities in the United States that are
struggling the most with inflation in 2024.

Analysts at Wallet H
ub
said the COVID-19
pandemic caused a 40-year high in the U.S. inflation rate but has since
cooled down.

As of February 2024, the year-over-year inflation rate sits at 3.2%,
which is still above the target rate of 2%. The Federal Reserve may cut
interest rates this year rather than increase them further.

To help people understand how inflation affects their local economy, the
personal finance company compared 23 major Metropolitan Statistical
Areas (MSAs) using the Consumer Price Index.

This measures inflation by comparing the CPI for the latest month for
which BLS data is available two months prior and one year prior.

Unfortunately, Dallas has reached
the top five on the list, posing significant concerns for its residents.

According to the report, Dallas has emerged as the second-highest city
in terms of inflation rate.
