We urge you to support our firefighters - Vote YES on B
Return Ballots ASAP!

We want to alert you... there's a Special Election, Measure B, to support our local firefighters in providing emergency, rescue, and wildfire response and prevention services.  Ballots were mailed on July 29th, with a August 27 deadline to return ballots.

Measure B will provide revenue directly to our local El Dorado County Fire Protection District to maintain excellent paramedic and fire response.  Measure B will cost property owners only $8 per month, a worthy investment to save lives and property in our community.

A YES Vote for Measure B will:

  • Restore needed firefighter and emergency responder positions, maintaining emergency rescue, wildfire response and fire prevention services
  • Help to keep firefighting lifesaving equipment and facilities up-to-date
  • Maintain rapid response times for fire protection and 9-1-1 emergency services by preventing further cuts to first responders.

Tired of gun violence?  Take action... get voters committed to vote in 2020

This past week was awful. As the number of shootings and shooting victims piled up, I was overwhelmed with sadness. So much tragedy and so preventable. If it weren't for the corruption of our Constitutional values ("well-regulated militia, anyone?") by NRA money, gerrymandering, and the electoral college fallacy, we'd have gun control legislation in place to reduce this senseless gun violence.

But there is a solution, and it makes me feel powerful. I like to go to a Congressional district where there's a member of Congress in the pocket of the NRA and find forgetful progressive voters and make them promise to vote. It's a strategy with a proven track record for raising voting rates, and I no longer feel so powerless.

This Sunday, join the El Dorado County Democratic Party and the California Away Team in El Dorado County to reactivate these forgetful voters in the district of NRA tool Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA-4). As an added benefit you'll also help unelect all the downballot Republicans who might succeed McClintock when he loses his seat.
RSVP here for August 11th:  https://www.calawayteam.com/

If you can't make the event, you can help us raise the money we need for printing and postage in the two counties we're operating in.

You can also RSVP for future events. Here's our upcoming calendar.

Policy, Issues and Resolutions Committee Meeting
Wednesday, August 14th 5:30-6:30pm at the Placerville Raley’s

Come join us to learn how to stay informed and track issue-specific policies in local, state and federal government. We will also have a discussion about issues impacting veterans in our community and ways to get involved in supporting our local veterans.

Our policy and issues work is already starting to be recognized in the local community. As we continue to dive into more of our strategic priorities, we will need more ears and eyes paying close attention to related policies, community events, and stakeholder groups.

Hope to see you there. Let me know if you plan to attend so we have an idea of how many attendees to expect.

Best,
Lauren Hernandez, Chair, Policy, Issues and Resolutions Committee, El Dorado County Democratic Party
