comprehensive equity analysis
of the California Climate Investments initiative and provided lessons from these programs on strategies that worked and others that should be avoided when working toward advancing equity.
Commemorating COVID-19 service workers
On March 15, the fourth anniversary of New York City’s first COVID shutdown, P4A grantees at One Fair Wage hosted an event commemorating the restaurant workers who faced unprecedented challenges during the pandemic. The event served as a memorial for those lost and a platform for sharing evidence on the continued inequities in subminimum-wage work.
“Every Black Voice” is more than a report; it’s a movement toward reconciliation and reparative justice in Asheville, North Carolina. Through the engagement of more than 240 community members, the Racial Justice Coalition captures the Black community’s experiences, challenges, and aspirations in five critical impact areas: housing, education, economic development, criminal justice, and health care. By providing community-driven recommendations for reform, the report underscores the
importance of community voices in shaping policy and societal change.
P4A grantees at Howard University raise important questions about Opportunity Zones and their true impact on low-income communities. Are they a tool for genuine growth, or do they inadvertently support gentrification? This analysis goes
beyond surface-level observations
to understand the nuanced effects of these policies on low-income communities, offering insights into how policy could better serve the intended beneficiaries.
The report
on racial disparities in the treatment of capital income in the federal individual income tax, developed by P4A researchers at the Urban Institute, was cited several times in the
US Department of the Treasury’s revenue proposals and is a key testament to the significance of their work contributing to national discussions on advancing equity through tax reform.
