After the recent news of Alabama’s Supreme Court ruling that gave fertilized embryos the same rights as children, I believe Congress needs to act to protect IVF fertility treatments.

The Access to Families Act - legislation I’m proud to have co-sponsored - will grant much needed protections in a post-Roe world.

We need to confront the harsh reality: The right to reproductive health care is under constant attack from extremist politicians to figures in our court system.

So many people depend on IVF to start families, yet the Alabama Supreme Court’s decision has cut off access to these important fertility treatments for women and families.

I promise, if you send me back to Congress I will continue to fight for the most fundamental rights of women and the rights of all Americans to make personal medical decisions without the government in the room. The Access to Families Act is an important step forward in that advocacy.
