Team,

Last week, Congress passed the CARES Act -- a massive piece of legislation that will provide direct payments to many Americans, extend unemployment insurance, fund small business relief, and much more.

We got word late Thursday night that the Senate had passed this bill and that the House was up next. So, I tucked my kids into bed and got in my car at 10PM to start the overnight drive to DC.

The past couple weeks, I've spent time in our district talking to countless families, healthcare workers, and small business owners. I was honored to take those stories to Washington and make them part of the debate on the House floor.

After voting, I got back in my car and drove eight hours back home to Massachusetts.

I'm proud to say that we passed this critical relief package, and it was signed into law the same day. When it comes to providing families with much needed relief -- we cannot play politics.

This bill will assist families, uplift workers, and support small businesses. And I'm so glad that help is on the way for so many people who are in dire need - especially our healthcare workers and first responders who are putting their lives at risk every single day.

Of course, the bill is not perfect and our work is far from done. And, I promise I will continue to fight for assistance to benefit families in Massachusetts' 3rd District.

Stay safe, and I'll be in touch soon.
- Lori
