Much-needed medical supplies have been out of stock since the beginning of this public health crisis -- especially items such as hand sanitizer.
So last week, I joined forces with some of my colleagues in the 116th Congress and state senators here in Pennsylvania to break the regulatory barriers that were stopping over 130 small craft distilleries across the state from stepping up to help during this crisis.
With the help of Rep. Brendan Boyle and State Senators Vincent Hughes and Tim Kearney, we removed the red tape and regulatory restrictions set by the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of the Treasury that was preventing our distillers from transforming their operations.
I am proud of our local distilleries and business owners who are filling the gaps where the White House has failed to take action.
The leadership of the people and their commitment to fighting this pandemic are nothing short of inspiring. Their creative solutions will save lives -- I am thankful for their help in these challenging times.
We have more work ahead of us, and I will continue to keep you updated.
