The farmworkers that put food on our table do not get to telecommute during this crisis.

Dear Friend,

You may not know their names, but they grow our food.

Farmworkers represent the backbone of our agricultural economy and their work is some of the most physically demanding labor in any economic sector. They are also among the least protected from hazards on the job and have one of the highest rates of chemical exposure among all U.S. workers. Off the job, they often live in or near treated fields, where toxic pesticides can drift into their homes and harm their children. And during the COVID-19 pandemic, they are risking their lives to put food on our table.

As we close out National Farmworker Awareness Week, take a moment to read about our ongoing efforts to protect these essential workers.

Strengthen protection for farmworker children
Farmworkers are some of the least protected workers in the country — and some farmworkers are children. Pediatricians have understood for decades that children are more vulnerable to health-harming chemicals than adults. Urge your representative to support the Children’s Act for Responsible Employment and Farm Safety Act today.
TAKE ACTION

Let us celebrate the incredible farmworkers who are working during this crisis to put food on our tables by continuing to fight for their protections.

Sincerely,
