John –

Across the country, more and more books are being banned from our schools, limiting our students freedom to read and learn.

Most of the books being banned are written by or about a person of color or a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Erasing diversity from our books and schools is the latest attempt by conservatives to halt the progress of the march toward equality.

Thankfully, in Minnesota the legislature is stepping in to stop book bans here. Last week the House passed a bill out of the Education Committee that would stop schools and libraries from restricting access to a book or other material based on its viewpoint or the message, ideas, or opinions it conveys.

Our kids deserve the freedom to read and learn.

Thank you for stepping up with us to protect it in Minnesota.

Best,
