John,
It’s important to me to keep my supporters in the loop, so I wanted to share some updates about my work in Congress from the last few weeks!
1.
I
joined
the
U.S.
Department
of
Agriculture
and
the
University
of
Georgia
for
a
groundbreaking
ceremony
for
the
new
state-of-the-art
Agricultural
Research
Service
on
the
UGA
Tifton
campus
.
Tackling
the
challenges
our
farmers
and
producers
face
requires
dedicated
researchers
and
this
state-of-the-art
facility
that
will
be
built.
2.
I
announced
that
small
businesses
in
Calhoun,
Lee,
and
Thomas
Counties
were
awarded
a
total
of
$874,727
in
grants
through
the
Rural
Energy
for
America
Program
(REAP).
Thanks
to
the
funds
provided
through
the
Inflation
Reduction
Act,
businesses
are
reducing
operational
costs
using
clean
energy,
supporting
Georgia
clean
energy
companies,
and
strengthening
local
electric
grids.
3.
I
announced
awards
from
the
U.S.
Department
of
Health
and
Human
Services
totaling
$3.3
million
to
health
care
centers
in
Middle
and
Southwest
Georgia
to
help
improve
and
expand
health
care
services
for
Blakely
and
Macon
as
well
as
the
surrounding
areas.
Federal
support
for
our
rural,
smaller,
and
underserved
communities
helps
ensure
that
–
no
matter
the
ZIP
code
–
Georgians
should
be
able
to
get
the
health
care
they
need
close
to
home.
4.
I
announced
that
Albany
State
University
was
awarded
$100,000
to
expand
its
partnerships
and
programs
that
will
support
greater
opportunities
for
students
to
succeed
in
the
clean
energy
industry.
Keeping
at
the
cutting
edge
of
energy
technology
is
critical
to
Georgia’s
continued
success,
and
this
award
will
ensure
we
tap
all
the
potential
our
state
has
to
offer.
