You probably heard -- the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos could be considered “children,” a decision that will make it harder for people to start families and has already led to some Alabama clinics halting IVF services.

I got angry because it’s not a crime to start a family. But anti-choice extremists are trying to make it one.

I got angry because most of us know someone who’s undergone IVF treatment because they struggled getting pregnant. It’s an emotionally, physically, and financially exhausting process.

I got angry because, with each new effort to restrict reproductive care further, the GOP tells us that we’re overreacting and that no one is coming after reproductive care. But then they go and do that exact thing -- whether it’s restricting IVF or travel for reproductive care or abortion medication.

After this new ruling on IVF, it’s clearer than ever: This isn’t about pregnancy. It’s about punishing women and taking away their autonomy.

Here’s what we have to do: We have to defeat Republican candidates on the ballot so we can enshrine reproductive rights -- including Roe v. Wade -- into law. Any amount you can contribute makes a real difference.

If all of the recent attacks on reproductive rights aren’t reason enough to get involved in 2024, here’s another: The Heritage Foundation -- a right-wing think tank and influential Trump ally -- is planning to crack down on reproductive rights even more if Trump wins a second term in the White House.

We need Joe Biden in the White House. We need a Democratic House. And we need more Democrats in the Senate. 

That means we all need to be active in this year’s elections -- whether that means voting, contributing, volunteering, or talking to our friends and family. And today, I’m asking you to give a few bucks to help us help Democrats on the ballot in 2024.
