John,
The Virginia Assembly has officially adjourned after the 2024 session, and one thing is clear: The Election Day wins that Sister District volunteers helped secure last November are turning into real progress on a range of issues.
Legislation that has already been signed into law includes bills to protect marriage equality and access to contraception, and there are hundreds more waiting to be signed or vetoed, including bills that would:
-
Ban assault weapons
-
Raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour
-
Protect reproductive care patients and providers from extradition to states that have criminalized abortion
Will you pitch in $20.24 to help us keep building progressive power in the states this November and we can achieve more results like these?

While some of this legislation could still be vetoed, the reality is that none of it would have made it to the governor’s desk in the first place had Democrats not flipped the House of Delegates and held the State Senate with support from Sister District volunteer teams.
And while Governor Glenn Youngkin felt insulated from the need to make unpopular vetoes while Republicans held the Virginia House majority, he’ll now need to risk angering voters even further if he chooses to veto these overwhelmingly popular policies.
The results from this year’s legislative session prove just how powerful the work we’re doing to build progressive power in the states really is. With the 2024 elections approaching, we’ll have opportunities to make an impact in even more states.
But John, none of the work we do can happen without you. It takes resources to support our volunteer teams and get the word out about our endorsed candidates, and we count on grassroots funding to do it all.
So if you’re ready to win more elections this November so we can make more progress in even more states, please pitch in $20.24 or anything you can today to support the work we’re doing across the country.
Thank you,
Sister District HQ
