The severity of the crisis at our Southern Border has reached unprecedented levels, and it appears the Biden Administration either remains oblivious with their heads in the sand, or, more alarmingly, they are fully aware of the situation and simply do not care. You don’t have to look far to see the results of the federal government’s failure to address this national security and economic crisis: the Border Patrol reported 250,000 migrant encounters last December, the highest recorded monthly total in the history of the country. And the Biden Administration admitted to flying more than 300,000 illegal immigrants into the country to reduce the numbers at the border. Simply put, the Biden Administration and the federal government have failed the American people, forcing the states to handle the crisis alone. (This is one of many reasons we need Donald Trump to win in November) Because of the federal government’s inaction, some states like Texas are having to take action on their Southern Border, with support from other conservative states like Mississippi. But right now, there are bills pending in the Mississippi Legislature that might make the problem of illegal immigration even worse. Senate Bill 2145 and House Bill 728 are currently active in our Mississippi Legislature—and these bills create a dangerous backdoor for taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants. This legislation is aimed at strengthening the 340B prescription drug discount program—but that can be misused by health care providers to subsidize health care benefits for illegal aliens. As Mississippians, it is our responsibility to take a stand and ensure that these bills do not become law. In a document from the Community Health Care Association of New York that was recently uncovered by a Real Clear Politics Reporter, it specifically states that Community Health Centers there rely on the 340B drug discount program helps them by “Subsidizing costs of care for undocumented” people in their state. Why should illegal immigrants receive free health care when so many hard-working Americans struggle with the challenge of paying their mortgage, rent, groceries, and even their own healthcare? Mississippi conservatives do NOT support taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants. I won’t stand for this, and neither should you. The good news is, there’s still time to stop SB 2145 and HB 728—but you need to make your voice heard and contact your Mississippi Legislator to ask them to oppose this legislation. Call them today while there is still time!
