Friend – The next election is on Tuesday, April 2, but you don't have to wait until then to cast your vote! The early voting period begins today, and we hope you can help us. Earlier this year, we joined a coalition of organizations to defend Milwaukee's most popular early voting site and testified before the Milwaukee Common Council in support of additional funding in the budget to make voting more accessible. We succeeded in getting our requested early voting locations at 6001 W. Capitol Drive and on-campus at UWM and MATC. We accomplished those goals, but now we need you to turn out at these early voting locations in the upcoming election so they don't get taken away in future spring elections. If you are a City of Milwaukee resident, please help us by voting at the following early following locations: Vote Early at UW-Milwaukee Zelazo Center Vote Early at MATC Vote Early at Capitol Drive Voting Center You can also check your registration and see what's on your ballot at MyVote.WI.Gov or register in-person at the polls. Learn more about your vital stakes in these races and make a voting plan for the April 2 election at MyVote.WI.gov. ACLU-WI sent a questionnaire to the two candidates running for Milwaukee City Attorney regarding their positions on civil rights and liberties issues – see candidate responses here. On the ballot, you will also be asked two referendum questions about how elections run in Wisconsin. These two ballot questions would change the Wisconsin Constitution if they passed. The ACLU of Wisconsin strongly opposes both referendum questions. For more information about the referendum questions, go to our website. We need you to show up this April. Even if you choose not to vote early at these locations, your vote is critical. Make sure you make a plan to vote on April 2. If you have any issues at the polls during the early voting period or on election day, call or text Election Protection at 866-OUR-VOTE. We look forward to seeing you there, Dr. Melinda Brennan |
