Calls by Republicans to sacrifice the elderly and the immunocompromised so that the stock market will go up are disgusting and should be disqualifying for any candidate for office. When we know that incompetence and short-sighted policy directly causes the death of Americans, that should be disqualifying too.
But here’s the hard truth: polls consistently show that about 50% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic. You might ask, how is that possible?
