and a movie?

Hello Friend,

First, thank you to everyone who helped pull off our most vital NY HEAT Act Albany action yet last week!

We know that it may feel like we tell you "we're closer than ever to passing the NY HEAT Act and bringing New Yorkers the cleaner heat and lower bills we deserve" every week. But the reason we continue to say it is because it's true. Thanks to everyone's hard work, we have a strong chance of finally passing this bill that we've championed through multiple years and multiple names in the state budget, which is due April 1st.

But that means we have to keep pushing even harder. So if you can make it to Albany again, please join NY Renews for a statewide action for Climate, Jobs, and Justice on March 20! (And, even if you're not near Albany, make sure to check the event page for the many transportation options from across the state.)

Can't make it? You can still make a difference! Just use our call tool to let your reps know that you support NY HEAT! At this stage of budget negotiations, there's so much going on that it's extra important we don't let them lose sight of the groundswell of support for this bill.

And finally, something a bit different. We'd like to introduce you to a compelling documentary about a group of women who relentlessly fought back against the system responsible for the historic disaster that took place in their own backyard. RADIOACTIVE: THE WOMEN OF THREE MILE ISLAND is a stunning award-winning film. It asks the important question: should we or shouldn’t we with nuclear energy? First-time filmmaker Heidi Hutner answers this question with solid research and interviews with scientists, engineers, whistleblowers, physicians, and most importantly with the victims themselves. RADIOACTIVE is a must-see tour-de-force for anyone who cares about our energy future and our planet. —JON BOWERMASTER, AWARD-WINNING NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC FILMMAKER

The movie is streaming on Apple+ and Amazon Prime Video. And on March 28, the 45th Anniversary of the Three Mile Island meltdown, Sierra Club and Beyond Nuclear will host a virtual panel discussion about "RADIOACTIVE: The Women of Three Mile Island, Gender, Environmental Justice, and the Future of Nuclear Power." The panel will feature the filmmakers, Navajo guests, researchers, and more.
