Just over a week ago, me and Squad member Rep. Rashida Tlaib introduced the Living Wages for Musicians Act.
Hear me out why this bill is important: Millions of people across the country use streaming services to listen to music, but artists are seeing pennies compared to the stacks of profits massive corporations are sitting on.
Artists – big or small, from country to hip-hop – deserve to make living wages. Because buying a cup of coffee shouldn't require thousands of streams.
I have high hopes for this bill and think that putting money back in the pockets of musicians is something we should all get on board with.
I'm looking for progressives to add their names to support our bill. Is it too cheesy to say it would be music to my ears to hear that you signed on? 🎶 😂
