Hamas Leader Killed

Marwan Issa, the deputy commander of Hamas’s military wing, was killed in an Israeli strike this month in central Gaza, U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan confirmed Monday. Earlier Monday, Israel’s military said it was carrying out a “precise operation” at Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital, citing Israeli intelligence that the complex was being used by senior Hamas militants, as The Washington Post reports

Putin’s Terms

Fresh from an election in which he was the only viable contender, Vladimir Putin came out swinging against the West, vowing that peace in Ukraine would come only on his terms, and warning that if NATO put boots on the ground, it could mean nuclear war, as the WSJ reports

Pakistani Airstrikes in Afghanistan

Pakistan launched two airstrikes into Afghanistan on Monday morning that killed at least eight people, escalating simmering tensions between the two countries, as the NYT reports

Smiles

If you read this space, you probably know that I am a big fan of Little Feat and their original lineup featuring the late Lowell George. Don’t get me wrong, I love that the band continues to tour and make new music despite George’s untimely death in 1979. They even have a new album that is coming out on May 17th called “Sam’s Place.” But it’s the vintage Little Feat material with George from the mid-1970s that I think is incomparable. This week, I’ll dive into some of Little Feat’s best known songs, and some of the obscure ones as well.
