UN: No more ‘normal-sized babies’ in Gaza

Will you make a gift to deliver lifesaving care to pregnant women, newborns, and all those impacted by war in Gaza and around the world?

MAKE A GIFT

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is a nightmare now that the health care system has collapsed and millions face starvation.

"Doctors are reporting that they no longer see normal-sized babies," said Dominic Allen, UNFPA’s representative for the state of Palestine. "What they do see though, tragically, is more stillborn births... and more neonatal deaths, caused in part by malnutrition, dehydration and complications."

"Those mothers should be wrapping their arms around their children," he said. "Those children should not be wrapped in a body bag.”

“It's a nightmare which is much more than a humanitarian crisis. It is a crisis of humanity... beyond catastrophic."

Mother and baby in Gaza

Against all odds, UNFPA has so far supported 21,000 births — over half of all births in Gaza since the war began.

Thanks to emergency gifts from donors, UNFPA is providing supplies to support the sexual and reproductive health needs of Gaza’s women and girls. This includes reproductive health kits, mama kits, and dignity kits.

So as this crisis of humanity rages on, we’re asking you to deliver a gift that will make a world of difference to the women and girls who need it most.

Will you make an emergency gift to deliver lifesaving care to those suffering in Gaza and around the world?

MAKE AN EMERGENCY GIFT

The suffering must end. We condemn the violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, including all sexual violence, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas.

Thank you for being there.
