It’s no wonder Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen now claims that she regrets describing inflation as “transitory”!

Despite President Biden’s spin, inflation continues to crush the American people. Last week, the U.S. Labor Department released new data revealing that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.4% in February, with year-over-year inflation coming in hotter than expected at 3.2%. This is just the latest example of how hardworking Americans are being forced to pay more for everyday necessities in Joe Biden’s economy.

In total, inflation has risen by a whopping 18.6% since President Biden took office. Keep in mind, inflation was just 1.4% at the start of his presidency. 

Here are a few examples of how prices have spiked since January 2021:

🏡 Rent is UP 19.5%

⛽ Gasoline is UP 38.8%

⚡ Electricity is UP 28.6%

🍎 Food prices are UP 20.9%

🍼 Baby food & formula are UP 29.6%

🚘 Transportation services are UP 35.2%

Clearly, our country cannot afford “Bidenomics.” 

In the Peach State, high costs continue to hit hardworking families. In fact, the average Georgia household is paying $1,021 more per month as compared to January 2021. Cumulatively, Georgians have been forced to spend an average of $22,135 more due to inflation since President Biden took office.

Make no mistake, these burdensome price hikes are the direct result of President Biden’s failed economic policies and the Swamp’s wasteful spending. We must bring fiscal sanity to Washington in order to lower costs for workers, families, and small businesses. Please know that as a fiscal hawk and conservative appropriator, I remain laser-focused on combating President Biden’s self-inflicted inflation crisis through my work in Congress.

On Friday morning, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee issued his highly-anticipated ruling on whether to disqualify District Attorney Fani Willis from President Trump’s bogus Georgia case related to the 2020 election. As you may know, the judge ruled that Willis must either step aside from the case or fire Nathan Wade, whom she started an affair with before hiring him as special prosecutor.

Judge McAfee’s ruling is disappointing but not surprising. Despite Fani Willis’ perjury, anti-Trump bias, and serious conflict of interest, McAfee — a former Willis employee and donor — gave her a free pass so she could continue her political witch hunt. Clearly, corruption runs deep in Fulton County. Unfortunately, this ruling provides more evidence of our nation’s two-tiered system of justice and the Left’s nefarious election interference efforts. I look forward to President Trump appealing Judge McAfee’s cowardly ruling, and I remain committed to eliminating this corruption from our great country.

At a time of significant global instability, Secretary Austin’s severe lapse in judgment unquestionably jeopardized our national security. In response, I recently introduced the Announcement of Unavailability by Secretaries Through Information Notifications (AUSTIN) Act, which would require Cabinet officials to notify the President and congressional leaders of any circumstance that prevents them from performing their duties. My legislation bears Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s name to represent how the Biden Administration’s pattern of incompetence, poor decisions, and bad headwork can greatly harm our country. I firmly believe that Congress must improve the notification process to both provide transparency to the American people and prevent a similar disaster from happening in the future.

Lawmakers remain in Washington this week to continue working on government funding for Fiscal Year 2024. Rather than passing each of the twelve appropriations bills in a fiscally responsible manner, congressional leaders lumped these bills together, commonly known as an omnibus. As you may know, Congress passed the first half of this disastrous funding package earlier this month. With the remaining funds set to expire on Friday, lawmakers must advance another spending measure to avert a partial government shutdown. Unfortunately, I expect the second half of the omnibus to be no different from the first package — meaning virtually no conservative policy wins, thousands of wasteful pork projects, and spending higher than Nancy Pelosi’s FY23 levels. Please know that I’m strongly opposed to the Swamp’s omnibus, and I remain committed to fighting Washington’s disastrous spending decisions.

Additionally, lawmakers will consider the following legislation:

• H.Res. 987: This resolution denounces the Biden Administration’s anti-American energy policies that are raising costs for hardworking Americans and putting our energy security at risk.
• H.R. 1023, the Cutting Green Corruption and Taxes Act: This legislation repeals the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, preventing unelected bureaucrats from forcing their climate agenda on the American people without any oversight or accountability. 
• H.R. 1121: The Protecting American Energy Production Act prevents President Biden from implementing a moratorium on fracking, therefore protecting American energy production. Additionally, House Republicans’ legislation expresses that states have primacy over energy production on state and private land.
• H.Con.Res. 86: This resolution expresses the sense of Congress that a carbon tax would not be in the best interest of the country because it would raise energy prices, crush American families and businesses, and be detrimental to the United States economy.
• H.R. 7023, the Creating Confidence in Clean Water Permitting Act: This energy package consists of five bills that reform and restore permitting processes under the Clean Water Act, ensuring they are more consistent, transparent, and provide greater regulatory certainty.
• H.R. 6009: The Restoring American Energy Dominance Act would block the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) proposed rule entitled “Fluid Mineral Leases and Leasing Process,” which would stifle American energy production on federal lands and burden small businesses.
