Dear Friend,

March is Women’s History Month, dedicated to honoring the countless women who have shaped our nation as trailblazers and shattered glass ceilings.

As we celebrate the progress we’ve made, we must also acknowledge that there is still work to be done to ensure equality for women. In 2024, women still only make 84 cents on the dollar compared to men. That’s why I’m proud to support the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would help close the gender wage gap and hold employers accountable for wage discrimination. I’m also fighting to codify the Equal Rights Amendment and enshrine gender equality in the Constitution.

This Women’s History Month marks the second since Roe V. Wade was overturned. Attacks on reproductive freedom have only escalated in the years since – most recently with the extreme Alabama Supreme Court ruling on IVF. The ruling severely restricted IVF access, unleashing chaos for patients and healthcare providers and jeopardizing families. Within days of the ruling, multiple Alabama clinics announced they were pausing or suspending IVF services that many rely on to start families.

For years, Republican lawmakers and extreme anti-abortion activists have fought to control women’s lives, health, and bodies, and this ruling is a direct result of their anti-choice agenda. While the Alabama decision is the first-of-its kind, it will undoubtedly not be the last until we codify reproductive rights at a national level.

Like most Americans, I believe that people – not politicians – should have the freedom to make their own health care decisions, including how, when, and if to start a family. I’m proud to be a member of the Pro-Choice Caucus and to support legislation to protect the right to choose – such as the Women’s Health Protection Act, the Right to Contraception Act, and the Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance Act.

As your Congressman, I will continue to work to protect access to essential health care and defend women’s rights – especially the fundamental right to choose.

Sincerely,
