Board of State Canvassers certifies 2024 Presidential Primary election
LANSING, Mich. ? The bipartisan Board of State Canvassers today voted unanimously to certify Michigan?s Presidential Primary election results. Prior to today?s state canvassers' meeting, bipartisan canvassing boards in each of Michigan?s 83 counties certified the election results in their jurisdictions.
?
?Our state and county canvassing boards once again have fulfilled their duty under the law and certified the results of Michigan?s Presidential Primary election,? Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said. ?I?m grateful for the professionalism and commitment of Michigan?s municipal and county clerks who administered a smooth and successful election, including the operation of early voting sites statewide for the first time. Every Michigander can be confident in the integrity of the election process and that the results accurately reflect the will of the voters.?
?
Today?s Board of State Canvassers' vote certified the results of Republican and Democratic presidential primaries, which will be utilized to nominate the parties? candidates at their conventions this summer. Minor party candidates for president will be nominated at their party conventions later this year. Candidates without party affiliation who want to appear on the presidential ballot can file a petition with the required number of signatures. Those petitions are due July 18 by 4 p.m.
