John,
It’s been one week since Justice Democrats and more than 20 other progressive organizations united to launch the Reject AIPAC coalition, and the outpouring of support has been incredible.
Since we announced our joint effort to stop this right-wing mega donor-funded lobby group’s harmful influence on our democracy and foreign policy, nearly 30,000 people have signed on to our petition to reject AIPAC from the Democratic Party.
We’ve also started building the financial resources needed to counteract AIPAC’s $100 million war chest with a seven-figure ad campaign of our own to defend the progressive incumbents they’re attempting to unseat in 2024. If you can contribute to our fight, please consider chipping in $5 or more now.
But AIPAC has also been busy this past week. The group held its annual conference in Washington, D.C. to lobby members of Congress for more bombs and weapons for the Israeli military and bring their supporters together to hear their strategy to oust the Squad from Congress this year. Benjamin Netanyahu himself addressed AIPAC’s 1,600 donors through a video message.
According to documents obtained by The American Prospect, “The goal of this year’s low-key gathering was to fire up attendees for AIPAC’s 2024 agenda, before sending them off to Capitol Hill to strong-arm Congress on supporting Israel.”
The conference talking points further confirmed AIPAC’s alignment with Israel’s far-right government, with messaging insisting that Israel’s military doesn’t target innocent civilians and that “reports that people are starving in Gaza are false.”
This dangerous, false rhetoric goes against everything we know is happening on the ground in Gaza according to reputable sources like journalists, healthcare workers, and international aid organizations — but it’s what they’re telling members of Congress in order to secure more U.S. military funding for Israel.
AIPAC is not only influencing our country’s foreign policy and enabling genocide in Gaza — they’re threatening our democracy here at home by endorsing more than 100 Republican insurrectionists and over 200 anti-choice candidates while spending against progressive incumbents exclusively in Democratic primaries.
That’s why it’s absolutely critical that we remove AIPAC’s influence and dark money from the Democratic Party once and for all.
We can’t thank you enough for your support in this pivotal moment.
In solidarity,
Alexandra Rojas
