John,
Our friends at Stand.earth and WeMove Europe are heading to Santander
Bank's annual general meeting this Friday, March 22, to deliver our joint
petition to the Spanish bank that's behind so much rainforest destruction
and pollution in South America.
There's still time to add your name:

John, AGMs are our chance to crash the party and speak directly
to Santander's bosses and shareholders about the oil and gas projects the
bank is funding. More than 170,000 people have already signed. Will you
add your name and help us get to 175,000?
Here's an email I sent before with more details:

Oil and gas projects are devastating the Amazonia, and Santander Bank is
still one of the biggest funders of this destruction.
Other investors named and shamed, have stopped bankrolling these projects
-- it's time to get Santander to do the same. Add your name and share
widely:

Oil and gas drilling, pollution, and deforestation has been devastating
the Amazonia for decades. And Santander is bankrolling it.
These devastating oil and gas projects would not be possible without the
funding coming from a handful of banks. Santander, one of the biggest
investors in Amazonia destruction, has given these projects over 1.2
billion dollars.
Santander-funded projects not only exacerbate climate change but also pose
a significant threat to the lives and cultures of Indigenous communities
who rely on the Amazonia for their livelihoods and sustenance.
Other big investors named and shamed, have started to take steps to
change. We must pressure Santander to do the same to save the Amazonia.
[ [link removed] ]Santander, stop financing the destruction of the Amazonia!
Santander says that it “is working to protect the Amazonia rainforest and
promoting sustainable development.” But it is lying.
Santander has participated in 95 deals in the last 15 years, playing a
leading role 76% of the time. These deals include oil drilling companies
such as Petroquímica Comodoro Rivadavia, which operates oil blocks in the
Ecuadorian Amazonia.
The preservation of the Amazonia and the protection of Indigenous
inhabitants are essential, and it is Santander’s responsibility to stop
paying for oil and gas drilling.

Huge banks seem unmovable but together we’ve forced them to move before.
We got CitiGroup and Standard Bank to commit to defunding mines who dump
their waste directly in the ocean. If we all come together we can get
Santander to stop investing in Amazonia destruction!

Thanks for all that you do,
